water assist

hi i dont know if this would be the right board to put this on ,so if not would someone be kind enough to move it please.

a few of the water companies have a new kind of benefit called water assist .
it is to help people with certain disabilities with there water rates.
i applied for it for my gran and she now has had her water rates cut to just 3 payments of £15 a year

a few of the criteria for help that i can remember from the for are ;

to be in reciept of wtc ,pension credit ,dla .

and must have a disability which requires frequent washing or use of the washing machine .

eg,crones, colitis ,exzema, incontenace ,(please excuse spelling )

it's only a one page form but it does need to be stamped by your gp .

also it is for anyone with 3 or more children under the age of 19yrs still living in the family home .

all you need to do is call your water supplier and ask for a water assist form .

i hope this helps

These are not new, and the name of the scheme varies according to which water company it is. Still good to remind people though.

Severn Trent's scheme is called WaterSure. If you Google your local company you should get more info.
    Gone ... or have I?

    hiya,

how did you manage to get it down to £45 a year for your gran?

also the water sure scheme doesnt mention DLA, do they accept DLA as one of the benefits ?

    thanks,
  • Hi we are on this but pay a lot more that £45, we are on a meter and the amount is capped so it doesn't go over a set amount.

hi claire, my gran has crones and ulcerated colitis and also incontinance ,
so i would imagine this is why hers was reduced so much we live in the same street and mines is £350 so it's a huge chunk she had off her water charges .
dla was one of the criteria for welsh water but it had to be for one of the above conditions .
i know it has been mentioned before but i have only just recently heard of it ,and i think it is a fabulous help.
she has had these conditions for over 20 yrs i cant believe she could have had help before
  • Would people who foster incontinent dogs be entitled to this?

Those with incontinent brains might be,you`d best tele them and ask
  • You need to be on a meter (or for the Water Co. to be unable to fit a meter) to be eligble for this scheme. And no, DLA isn't one of the benefits that automatically qualify. They all seem to be the usual means tested ones, pension credit etc. Well worth a look though, you might just fit the criteria.
  • Hi ,
we applied for this with dwr cymru welsh water and now our bill is halved to £225. I think we could have claimed this for years but only just heared about it this year. We are not on a meter.
