Car recall? does it work for older cars not fixed?

What if I found out my 2nd hand car had a manufacturers recall - but the car is 6 years old... will the manufacturer carry out the work for free or how does that work?

Quick answer is to give a main dealers a ring and check.0 -
I got recall work done on my Mitsubishi Galant when it was 5 or 6 years old, I had it from 5 months old.
If it's a safety issue and a known fault it should get done.
Just outside warranty we paid for a replacement power steering hydraulic fluid pipe which later got replaced again under a recall, car now 5 years old, and we managed to claim back the money we paid for it to be done the first time from Mazda.0 -
I had recall work done on my 10 year old Audi.
A recall is a recall, so they should honour it...0
