We have been munching our way through what were ridiculously well stocked cupboards over the last couple of months so now very low on the basics....
soooo........plan is LIDL in the morning to buy
pasta
tin toms
noodles
cereal
sandwich filling of some variety
Apples, onions and carrots from fruit and veg shop on the way back.. max spend £10...
Have rice, soup, thai curry paste/coconut milk in the cupboard. Minced beef, peas, prawns in the freezer. 2 lots of pancetta in the fridge.
This should make dinner for 7 nights+..... I hope

I was secretly hoping noone would pick up on the haircut thing.... I've been struggling with this one for a while... I tell myself that I deserve it because I work so hard etc.. Maybe I should go to a cheaper salon untill I am debtfree?? (have such a phobia about new hairdressers tho)
Hi FeeFee
Don't be too hard on yourself - we all need treats and if your hair is your 'thing' then maybe this is one you should keep? I'm taking lunches to work, giving up magazines and have cut down on clothes and even shoes  but I haven't given up my nails at £46 a month  It's my 'thing' and I will hang on until I really can't afford it any more!

If you do get so you can't afford it do have a go at doing your own. I spent £35 every 3 weeks for years but when my technician ceased trading I decided I'd spent enough hours watching her to have a go myself. I buy all my nail products from ebay or Sally hair & beauty (like a wholesalers but open to the public) silks, fibreglass, tips for if I break a nail, resin, glues you name it. Now once a fortnight I switch off my phone and spend an evening pampering myself - it must cost me less than £10 per month.Numpty_Monkey wrote: »Have a look on the OS board, they will give you recipies and stuff about what you have in your cupboards(i think some of them eat the cupboards:shhh:) they will make £42 stetch till xmas:eek::eek::eek::A:A:A:A
:rotfl::rotfl:Thats what they mean by store cupboard meals then!!
Back on topic
Feefee - beans on toast and cottage cheese on jackets spuds are my cheap meals for months like yours. Or if I get desperate I turn up at my parents for tea (I might be 31 but I'm sure they love me visiting
-plus Mom might send me home with HM cakes or free eggs from their hens;)). Well it works for me! A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I was checking the new posts and spotted this. Just wanted to say, before you get a shock... Sally @ Salon Services is stopping selling to joe/josephine public.Warning - irrelevant hijack thread alert

Re the haircut - I went from £35 every 8 weeks just for the cut and colouring at home myself for about £8 to now going every 10 weeks and getting it cut and foils done by a student supervised by my hairdresser still for the £35. But as others have said if you can afford it keep it as your treat although it wont do any harm to stick an extra week in between. The person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Thanks for the mention of the new one at msoc. Whatsthecost's calculator is excellent and has been around for a long time, but I felt there was merit in having one that integrated directly with the SOA Calculator, so users didn't have to re-type all their debt details. Given that the poster has created an SOA, she can click on the "Snowball" button on the SOA calculator to directly open up the new Snowball calculator with all the information pre-filled. Alternatively she can use the msoc link above and the click no the "Prefill from SOA" button - assuming she had saved her SOA using the SOA Calculator.Numpty_Monkey wrote: »You are in a pretty good situation, and the spending diary is a great but scarey thing:eek:
Have a look at the snowball calc, there are 2 to play with now

Thanks everyone and Good Morning :j
Making the most of the school holidays by catching up on my sleep
I have tried the snowball on msoc and I could be DF by end of the year - this coincides nicely with my personal target of my birthday in early Jan :T
I sense my first frugal DFW Xmas on the way  I think some very careful planning will be required...
I have decided to postpone any definite decision on the hair saga (will be due at the end of next month) until I have some idea how well I perform at being a reformed money manager.... Good motivation for me to do amazingly:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
This mornings mission is food shopping on £10.... fingers crossed !!!!!!!!!!!

Well - mission accomplished! Survived my bargain shopping experience...spent £9.47 and managed to get two full bags of shopping for that.. I'm pretty stunned tbh. Felt really chuffed with myself when I left the supermarket but feel quite daunted now that I'm back home
Don't know how well I will cope with the next two weeks, totally my own fault things are so tight I know......
Nothing moving on my ebay listings either so I am going to dig out some more stuff to list this avo after I address the serious issue of my housework eeeeeekkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!
