Lloyds Platinum Account

I have looked at the Lloyd's Platinum account and after working it out I would save money as I use the AA, Mobile phone insurance, Travel etc anyway and it costs more than £17 pm !, but do you automatically get it ?, I have had credit problems in the past, and still have 4 defaults which are not due to drop off for another 3 years, now if I give them £17 pm am I guaranteed the account or is it still based on criteria, such as how much you can pay in etc ? or is it just a fancy name that sounds good but anyone can get.
I also notice that it comes with a 3-in-1 card which is a cash card of £500 per day, a £250 cheque card and a Visa Debit card.
Thanks.

Are you with them now or with another bank?
If you already hold a full proper account (not cash) then you have a chance but if there is default information on your credit files the bank might have to manually ask their lending department to agree the free overdraft and the cheque guarantee part of the cards is being phased out.
Would it still be attractive to you without the interest free overdraft?
If so go into a branch and speak to somebody - don't attempt this by telephone or online.0 -

The G'tee on the platinum card is not always there. I had that account and was issued with the Platinum card with no G'tee limit. I have a Premier account now that has the £250 limit.
I think from reading the T&C's you can have the Platinum account without the overdraft, so I suppose in theory you could have the account even if you fail the lending credit score. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

If I did apply for the card, and wanted (If it was still available) the £250 cheque card would I be credit scored on that ?.0 -
It is not a card but a bank account with a debit card.
It is normal for new accounts now not to have a cheque guarantee card as part of the debit card.
It is your internal score with the bank that dtermines whether you qualify for it or not.
If you do not qualify for it but still want it - they will refer to a lending department who would credit score you.0 -
I have had a select plus account for years, with no OD or any other facilities other than full visa/cq guarantee card due to a poor credit file and a low internal customer score.
I have been paying the £7.95 a month for ages as I have used the AA and phone insurance and found it cheaper than having it seperate.
Walked into my local branch the other day and got chatting to the advisor who tried to sell me the text alert service for when my card is used abroad etc. As a flight attendant, I said NO as I would get texts all the time and its bad enough that I have to pay £1 per overseas transaction.
Minutes later I was sat down and she advised that I had been accepted onto the Premier account. Although its £25 p/month this still works out to my advantage with the overseas transaction costs and the top level of AA and insurance.
Im a little confused tho as I still can not get any other lending from them like OD/ high rate CC
can anyone shed any light on this ?? sorry of this should be a separate post
Thanks
