Looking to book a mini weekend break 3 night stay HB mainly for the 3 kiddies 4, 2 & 7 months as mine & the hubbys friends are getting married July so have a hen & stag holiday booked for June. I'm then off with the kiddies 2 vist my parents in spain for 3 weeks but no kiddies disco so thought a good old british holiday would be fun for them
Haven - Craig Tara 3 nights dinner bed & breakfast £249
Pontins - Southport 3 nights dinner bed & breakfast £292
Butlins - Skegness 3 nights dinner bed & breakfast £314
Never done either so not sure which is best, money not a major factor but like a good deal

Been to the haven and butlin sites mentioned and pontins at a different site, I would have to say Butlins wins hands down.0 -
havent been, but heard from a friend that skegness butlins is fab for kids, with a big funfair which is totally free she really rated it so we'll be looking at it next year0
-
Butlins will work out cheaper in the end as the funfair is free.
If you go to haven the you would be at least £2 per child per go on the trampolines or rides, and as these are free at Butlins you do not need to keep spending.
we went to butlins last year with my 3 kids (2,6,7) and the really enjoyed it.
In saying all that we are going to Haven (Seashore) in July.0 -
We have been to all three and for the prices you have been quoted Butlins would win hands down. Tons of free activities for your children and we were really impressed with the whole site.
Cant believe Pontins is quoting that type of money !!! We went last year on a free weekend and only managed less than 24 hours.

craig tara is a nice site not too far to get into ayr and stuff about but as said apart from pool most other kidy rides youll have to bung out forJAN WINS- pepsi tshirt,0

Butlins is more upmarket.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

It seems butlins is winning but have had to change dated due to family party. With the new prices I'm leaning towards Haven as we live in Carlisle so would be under 2 hour drive unlike Butlins Skegness which is across country and down maybe 4 hours + Pontins is out of running
Haven HB £249
Butlins HB £4120 -
Don't forget to factor in the boredom of the kids travelling if you choose Butlins, they're quite young for a long car journey.....and you'd prob need to stop a service station...(expensive) and also your petrol money.
I'd stick with Craig Tara....we're just back and there are plenty of free things for kids. For a start your kids'll love the playpark, swimming, and feeding the swans and ducks at the lake. The Paws club is also free, though you might want to pay for them to have breakfast with the characters, though the characters do a walkabout every day.
Heads of Ayr Farm Park is next door, you pay entrance fee (perhaps £30 for your size family) and everything is free thereafter....you can even take in your own picnic. I had my kids, one aged 14 and 3 age 13 with me and we spent 4 and a half hours there.
Whatever you decide I hope you have a lovely break x
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

I would never go to Pontins.
Butlins will have far more free activities than Haven for children, there is always somehing going on. Also the hb option at Butlins is self service and usually good with lots and lots of choice. But their standard accomodation isnt great, we just put up with it because we usually only go for a short break and its not worth the extra for upgrade in my opinion.
Havens standard caravans have always seemed better than butlins standard chalets, and haven makes a good base to explore surrounding areas. But if you are going to mainly on camp then i would say butlins.
My daughter loves both, I grin and bear them, lol.0 -
Thanks everyone, I have booked Haven - Craig Tara 21st AUGUST 3 nights in std plus 2 bed caravan then added the HB option as an extra. Total Cost was £249 bargain for school holidays (yes I know its not in Scotland)
Will grin and bear for the sake of the kiddies :-)0
