I am looking to buy a new laptop and have been looking at the Dell ones as they are doing offers until the 15th April so I can get quite a good deal.
I have narrowed it down to two the Insiron or the Studio.
Specs as follows :
Insiron : Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6400, Memory 3072MB, Hard Drive 250GB - I can get this one for £375
or
Studio : Same processor as above, Memory 4096MB, Hard Drive 320GB, 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 - This one will be £434
So what do you experts recommend I go for - is the studio worth the £60 extra?
I have looked on PC world and can't see any others that match up to these specs for the same price - I am open to suggestions though.
I mainly use computer for surfing internet, downloading, Storing pics and music, itunes, playing basic downloadable games, emailing, messenger, occasional overtime work - excel & word. Nothing major but I want to get something that will be good for at least 3 years.

Can't see anything on your list that the Inspiron won't do. You are paying £60 for a bigger hard drive and better graphics, only you can decide if that is worth the extra. Vista will run fine on 3GB RAM
I'm assuming both come with Vista Home Premium-don't settle for Vista Home Basic. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Ive got my eye on this offer! But to be honest Dell did this offer a few months back think its was october time. So its bound to be repeated.
You always have the option of getting a usb storage device or using programs online in which you can keep extra files that you dont need to store on your laptop too.
Dells are quite good laptops so I think you wont have a problem with the 3yr issue. Either one sounds good for your needs so you may as well as save the £60.0 -
Well you are probably right the computer I have now is a Dell 3100 and that only has 80GB and the memory is only half full - I move films onto the PS3 and delete things when I no longer need them. I just read something about if you use vista with an integrated graphics card as opposed to the one that comes with the studio, it can make it run slow?
It is vista premium with both.
Sometimes I like to be downloading whilst surfing the web, currently my computer is really slow when trying to do both so that is what I would like to able to do with the laptop.0 -
speaking as someone only using a 30 gig parttion on a 200gig drive(1) its not worth getting a bigger disk.
That said £60 is not a lot of cash over the life of a laptop and the better graphics will make it seem more snappy especially for games, it really depends if you want a web tablet or a proper pc.
(1) the rest doesnt even have a parttion set up twisted eh!0 -

This is the kind of use that Dual-Core processors were designed to cope with, however the problem here could be your internet connection, rather than your laptop's speed? No free lunch, and no free laptop
