Lets assume you are about to buy your own home. You have disposable income equal to your mortgage and council tax.You work 5 days a week, 7-7 with travelling.
How would you structure your new life to maximise your mortgage repayments?
How would you shop/cook etc?
Staying in all the time is not an option, how could a ''lifestyle'' be had on a shoestring?
How would you provision for utilities?
Appreciate I'm being cheeky asking for all this, but I'd rather get it right from the beginning.

Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.

For working out how to handle mortage pages and so on you could use the Mortgage Free Wannabee Board which is one of many finance based boards in the section of MSE I have linked just below:-

Martin has produced a very good budget planner which can be either downloaded or used on line and which I'll link to later.
Then for some basic ideas on how Old Style works you could read our Welcome sticky at the top of the Old Style forum listing.
Also there is a MEGA Index sticky and perhaps the best two places to start would be the "getting started" section, and also the "Shopping section" which includes budgeting too.
Martin's budget planning pageHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Board guides are not moderators and don't read every post. If you spot an inappropriate or illegal post then please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. It is not part of my role to deal with reportable posts.
