AVG 8.5 - windows cannot open ?

I currently use Free AVG 8.0 & have tried to download 8.5 updated version.

I successfully download & save the file but then am told windows cannot open it.

I'm not knowledgable about all this stuff so please be patient!

I've briefly looked on this site & am aware that AVG is not well recommended by a lot of you, but for the moment I'm happy enough with it & would just like to update.

Thanks for your time.

What is the name of the file that you have downloaded?

It should be avg_free_stf_en_85_287a1483.exe available here

Save the file to a directory of your choicer and then double click on it from file explorer.

    Thanks to you both.

Browntoa, I used your link & it's worked.

    Thanks, again!

I have found in the past that the link provided by AVG often corrupts the file, doesn't inspire much confidence from an anti-virus provider lol.

No you don't have to uninstall the old version of AVG. AVG 8.5 will do all the necessary tidying up. Just run the installer and pick your options.
