Hi
I need a flight from IAD to either LHR or LGW for the days March 11th or 12th, to the 18th due to family problems. I was looking yesterday and they were $370 on cheaptickets but I wasn't sure I was going to need one but now I am and the only ones I can find are $553.
Does anyone know of anywhere that might be cheaper, or other ways to save money such as turning up on the day (does that ever work?).
Any help is much appreciated.

Have you looked at flying out of BWI? This can sometimes be a bit cheaper."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Continental via Newark to Bristol perhaps, then train to London0

Hey, thanks for the advice. I've looked around a few places and different routes but can't seem to get better than $550.0

BTW If the reason for travel is serious illness or death, some airlines have compassionate fares available, but you have to produce an official certificate to get them.
Hope it isn't though.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -

No, thankfully it isn't that. I'd rather not go into it but it is still rather urgent, the dates aren't very flexible and the timing/cost is bad with regards to being able to get to the airport itself etc. It's tough making these kinda decisions but from what I can see so far it isn't looking too possible right now.0 -
I've had a quick look but can't even get anything close to the amount you've found.
Just wanted to add that you're likely to get it cheapest by sticking to the 11th and returning on the 18th as it includes a Saturday night. The prices can often be dramatically more when a Saturday night isn't included in the trip - I think it's their way of charging business customers more.

I have to say $550 is a pretty good fare considering you want to fly this weekend. The cheapesst I have found is $691. I would take the $550 fare before it goes."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Thanks a lot for the help everyone, I really appreciate it.
It looks like we may have to go for the $550, it's frustrating being tied to such a schedule as I have found them as cheap as $258 from the 14th-21st but those dates aren't do-able.0
