How do I get old software to work on my new computer?

Hi all,

Bit of a random question. I used to have this game years and years ago and I saw it for sale on Amazon.
I'd like to get it to have a play on because it was so great (not the graphics- ha ha).
My question is- how would I get it to work on my mac (OS 10.4.11)? It looks like it only works on old platforms.
Is there anything I could do to get it to work?

you could get hold of a copy of either xp or vista (xp is better imo) and run using boot camp.

you could then install the game onto xp and use the program compatibility feature in xp to try and run it

Try Dosbox (http://www.dosbox.com/) it will work on the mac and SHOULD play the game for you.

If you're into old games heck out Home of the Underdogs (http://www.hotud.org/). A lot of old games have been released free and can be downloaded from there.

I use CrossOver Games, DosBox, and ScummVM for playing old (and not so old) games on my Mac.

I have the game now- for a bargin price of £5 from ebay!

I have downloaded DosBox..however, it seems to refer to directories like a pc rather than a mac. Have I got the right version? Is there any way you can give me a basic walk through of what I need to do to get it to run?

You could also run VMware, Sun VirtualBox, or Microsoft Virtual PC and install an older version of Windows/DOS on the same computer.

On the dosbox homepage there are links to front ends that simplify the installation
and running of dos games. There is a link to a front end for Macs called Boxer.
This certainly looks the business but I have never tried it.
