I'm using XP, I put the computer in standby and it only stays about 10 secs then comes on again. Any advice? As its a pain turing the computer on and off.

Computer standby is related to your power management settings, which can be found under Settings->Control Panel->Power Options. You may have a third party power management software installed already such as Toshiba's. Check that instead for settings0

Someone else reported a similar problem here a few weeks ago, and in their case it was caused by the Automatic Lock function in ZoneAlarm - turning it off solved the problem.0

No, I mean if I hit Start>Turn Off Computer>Stand By It goes into standby a few seconds then turns on again, I'm thinking my optical mouse is to sensitive and turing it on again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Mine does the exact same now and again ... not every time and I also suspect that it is my wireless mouse.
I think even the tiniest vibration will cause it to signal the dongle/receiver and the laptop restarts [back to windows logon screen] .... annoying
I have tried this to see if it is a fix ...
In Device Manager>keyboards>HID Keyboard Device>Right click and select Properties>select Power Management tab .... uncheck box "allow this device to wake the computer">click OK
....... then return to main Device Manager and scroll down 3 or 4 and do the same for HID compliant Mouse
Seems to work atm - a few "sleeps" will tell
hope it helpsLearn to laugh at yourself ... everyone else has:rotfl:
