Codecs problem.. unable to play some movies

Hi I ve recently got rid of some codecs from my laptop and some of the movies are not playing properly. - Avi files. They were all ok, but for some reason some of them now just play sound. I have Klite codec installed, (which i had previously) when everything was fine, but now only some videos play ok, others sound only, or picture only. hmmm. any idea what i should install?
Also any idea of a simple program that will play vob files?

You deleted some codecs and now some video's won't play!!
It's a bit like chopping your legs off and wondering why you can't walk anymore!!0
