Opening a savings account though online banking

A few days ago, I opened a savings account through online banking (as an existing customer). The account was created within seconds, with sort code and account number generated.

I thought an ID check will be done. However, when I check my credit report today, an ID check wasn't done. I find this odd. Is this normal? Or do they don't check when opening it through online banking as an existing customer?

  • An ID check is not required for an existing customer as it will already have been done when you first opened the account.

Ok then, no wonder the account number of the savings account appears instantly then.
