Club Event: Reclaiming Money Back

Hi All, I wonder if you can help me

There was a club event that happened on the 7th February 2009

The event was supposed to be held at the club seOne. However under circumstances beyond their control it was relocated to another club, The House Cub & Terrace.

At the seOne club there were promoters at the door directing people to the new venue, we checked our dress code was acceptable (as we knew the new venue had different rules) and were told we will get into the new venue on this occasion.

We arrived at new club The House Club & Terrace and were told straight away that we couldn't get in with what we were wearing; three people were wearing smart converses and the other people were wearing shoes. This was quite shocking to hear because as stated on their Facebook events page the dress code was either casual or smart with trainers being allowed as well as being told that we could go in with what we were wearing.

When we asked to speak to someone from the promotions company no one was available on radio and we were told we would not be able to speak to anyone that night. We were told to go home, as there was no management available to talk to us.

We were then informed by one of the promoters outside The House Club & Terrace that the company selling the tickets just wanted to take our money.

Eventually after three days of trying to contact the event organisers they agreed there was confusion over the dress code and accepted they were at fault with the whole situation and that there had been hundreds of people affected by the change. They apologised and offered VIP entry as compensation to another event they were holding, we accepted this compensation.

We were told that once the tickets were printed, we would be sent them. Weeks leading up to the new event we could not get hold of the company. The phone was engaged and they didnt answer any emails. On the day of the event we found out it was cancelled.

Again I have attempted to contact the events company on two different phone numbers. However the number is constantly engaged and they still haven't replied to any emails.

We purchased four tickets through their website and two tickets through their partner site totalling to £120.

The tickets were purchased through PayPal, however they have refused to help as we did receive the tickets that were sold.

It would be appreciated if anyone could provide me information on how I should go about reclaiming my money back.

tricky one.... hmm coz tecnically you recieved your goods. i would write to them with a formal letter, also contact trading standards and see if they can help.

Also, ring the 2 venues to see if they have different contact details for the company.

thats about it really as you recieved your goods and a mix up wrecked it. they havnt done any thing wrong in the eyes of the law yet. just wont answer the phone ...... suspicious

thats it my friend, regards josh

Did you use a credit card?
    "Love you Dave Brooker! x"

"i sent a letter headded sales of god act 1979"
  • There will be a nice big warning about R.O.A.R somewhere and unfortunately I think this will screw over any refund beyond them being sympathetic.

Unfortunately not it was paid through via PayPal, so came out my account via a Direct Debit. Intially the bank recommended me to file an indemnity claim where I received a full refund. However the events company claimed we did not pay for the tickets and PayPal put my account in debt for £82 and the account could not be used until the debt was paid.

That's right on the tickets it does mention R.O.A.R, however the only confirmation I have that the events company were in the wrong is via the phone call I had with the company. The original dress code was acceptable for the first venue but not the second, although on this occasion they were going to override the dress code but this didn't happen.
