hydraulic problems on tractor

Hi, My OH has a tractor mounted chipper that has a problem with the hydraulics.

The 3 point linkage is stuck in the up position no matter what you do with the controller.

He is pretty good at fixing things but doesn't know about this problem. We can't afford to get it looked at at the mo but need to get it sorted.

If anyone has any info on what he could try that would be great!

Cheers.

    Check the oil level?

Ask on a more appropriate forum?

Oil level is checked and is fine. I agree this wouldn't be classed as the 'most appropriate forum, do you have any good suggestions?

It sounds like the problem is with the controller, some years ago our furguson did the same thing, one of the piston rods had gone across too far , it mean`t stripping the controller down.

Lever mechanism sounds most likely especially if it stuck in up position (ie not the natural rest position where it would end up if the fluid levels were low.)

i occasionally fix tractors, the only problem ive ever really had with them is tow hitches, either springs being broken or welds failing.
is there any chance the linkage is seized?

No not seized. But will pass the message on to 'him outdoors'!

    Cheers.
