Help me choose a new digital camera!

Hi,
I currently have a 2 year old Kodak C875 and fancy a change.
I have around £150 to spend.
I have found this at Currys which seems a good deal, what do you think?
I am very indecisive so would appreciate some help!
Thanks
Luke :D

It would help if you indicated what you need from your digital camera. Clue-the answer isn't 'taking photographs'.
i.e. portraits, landscapes, ruggedness, size, zoom ratio, features etc.

Sorry I meant to say, I just want to be able to take good all round photos, nothing special apart from occasional motor racing shots.
    Thanks

I don't know much about motor racing photography, but I'm guessing that this is high speed and long distance. So for that purpose I would be looking for something with a bit more reach than a 3 x zoom? Ignore the digital zoom range option as the quality is rubbish. 10MP is fine for all general purpose work.

    Yes true!
I think I might wait for a while because i'm not sure I will see much of an improvement over my Kodak C875 in picture quality and it has a 5x optical zoom so I will probably stick with that for now.
See what I mean about indecisive!
    What do you think?
    Thanks

Unless you're doing huge enlargements, you won't see much quality improvement between 8 and 10MP anyway. For your purposes I would have thought the 5x optical zoom is more important.
The increase in MP count is probably reaching it's limits now, as the quality does not get much better beyond 10MP, and in many cases the 'noise' generated leads to worse results, not better.
Why not get yourself down to a specialist camera shop (an independent, or even Jessops, if they're still trading) and ask their advice? You're not going to get any meaningful advice in Curry's.

I suggest yo get the Fujifilm J150w (http://www.johnlewis.com/230508987/Product.aspx) It costs £99 from John Lewis, has 5x optical zoom which is not brilliant but is quite good, is of 10 megapixels and has a 3.0" LCD screen which is probably the largest screen in a compact for this price and functionality. With John Lewis, you get a 1 year warranty and can upgrade it to 3 years for only £35, which will bring the total to £134, well within your budget. The only problem is these sell out pretty quick on the JL website...

Have a look on this website here. Reviews by people who have bought cameras.

I recently purchased the Fuji S5800. Bit bigger than the usual digital cameras but am really pleased with it.

If you know someone with a Makro card they have an offer on Fuji cameras for £99.99 plus VAT.

    Thanks all for your advice.
I think I will leave it for now and stick with my trusty old Kodak!
I will visit some camera shops at some point to get a better idea of whats out there.
    Thanks again.

I just bought a Sony Cybershot which is very compact and easy to use. It took fab pics on my skiing holiday.
