Not sure if this is the correct place to post , so if not, please could someone move it into the right place?

Does anyone know whether a cracked numberplate will fail an MOT?

Thanks!

    Hello nic82

I've moved your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board, where it should get more views and responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Thanks volcano and amazon_spice.

Now, I wonder if I can get a new number plate made and fitted by tomorrow evening

Don't really fancy paying to have an MOT on Thursday which will fail and then have to pay for another one.

A lot of MOT stations will not charge you for a retest with in 7 days. They'll just check the items it failed on, so check with your testing station. That way you can get the number plate ordered and not have to worry about paying for two MOT's.

Many motor factor places can make you one up on the spot, just remember your documentation.

Went to Halfords last night and got one made up on the spot. Excellent service too.

Thank you for all your help.
