Have tried to update my flash player to FP10,and it won't install no matter what I do.

Have gone through all the troubleshooting on the Adobe site, all to no avail.

What can I do?

    Try this:

    1. Download the flash player and save to desktop (DO NOT RUN) from filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/

    2. Close all browser windows - to be sure you could log off and logon.

    3. Run the install program.

    4. Try a website with flash. It should work again.

There's often an issue with a certain on-demand program and flash that causes required files for Flash to be unregistered during the setup and then re-registered incorrectly or not at all, causing that problem.

If that doesn't work post back and will walk you through manual re-registration of files.

Thanks ms_fan. I spent a whole evening trying to do this before so I'm delighted this works.

    No joy I'm afraid.

Installed it,and went onto Youtube to watch a motorsport video, and got the following message:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player.

    Can you navigate to: \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

What files are in that folder? A screenshot may be more useful. Could you also view by details and then screenshot -so that it displays the last modified date.

    Cheers

    Use the adobe removal tool
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157

reboot and try and install again

If THAT doesnt work then do the same again but try version 9 instead ~
    Flash v9 for IE
    Flash v 9 for Firefox

No problem. if you go to Start and then hit Run or in the Vista search box type "cmd" without speech marks.

In the window that appears type:

    regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10a.ocx

Should get a message saying that the module was unregistered. If not, edit the path of the "C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10a.ocx" to meet that file - needs to be your Windows folder\system32.

    Then type:

    regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10a.ocx

This manually unregisters and reregisters the associated flash control. Then try this link: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7995571.stm and see if you can play the video.

Just seen AlienRIK's advice, I'd follow that as well :)

In the cmd.exe black box that appears,it says that it has failed to load.

The module regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash10a.ocx failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.

The specified file could not be found.
