MPG performance?
Hi
I currently have a Yaris SR 1.3 and my mum has offered selling me her 1.6l Audi A3 for a decent price which I'm tempted to do due to the increased amount of motorway driving I'm doing at the moment where the Yaris feels a little underpowered.
Should I expect my MPG at motorway cruising speed to be better in the Audi due the engine having to work less hard at higher speeds or worse due to the larger engine?
All help appreciated.
Cheers

It isn't really all as simplistic as that. You can look over the manufacturer's quoted performance, but the only way to really tell is to take car one, fill to the brim, reset the trip couner, and drive as normal till the tank is nearly empty then go fill it up. This will give you two numbers. Mileage and the amount of petrol driving that mileage has used. Do same for car 2. Then work out MPG.
The Audi A3 is a bigger car though and I think you'll find the 1.6 A3 feels about the same as the 1.3 yaris on the motorway.0 -
The audi won't do better MPG than the Yaris all things being equal, both serviced, tyres good, both petrol, same ish mileage and age.
The most important factor being the weight of the car.
Sorry swapping is not moneysaving on fuel.0 -
The Audi will be more comfy on the motorway. It feels like you have to hang on in a small car at [STRIKE]100[/STRIKE] 70mph...0

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like I've some more thinking to do then before I make a decision!0

Depending on how tight finances are the A3 will be a lot more relaxed on the motorway than the Yaris. If you are doing quite a lot of driving then I would certainly consider it. If you say just commute 30 mins each way then probably stick with the Yaris (the trouble is if your mileage is high then you have to decide whether a more relaxed drive is worth the extra cost...a bit of a dilemma)0
