Trying to Backup My Pictures..

Sorry if this appears a really simple task. Getting a new PC and have about 3GB of pictures I want to burn onto a DVD. Whenever I go to copy pictures to CD, it comes up with a "Windows encounterer as problem when trying to copy this folder". Any clues to what I might be doing wrong?

Are you attempting to burn to CD or DVD? Your post says both. Windows XP has no built in DVD writing software, only CD.
You can't burn 3GB to a single CD, max capacity is around 700MB.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Could be the folder is copy protected, i think its more likely that you are trying to burn to a dvd and you dotn have the hardware/software to do it.
To fix it, just copy them onto 4 different cd's0 -

Ah that explains it. Trying to burn to a DVD, so thats the problem. Didn't realise XP didn't have any DVD writing software.0 -
You can download IMGBURN or use 4 or 5 CD's. This is assuming that you have a DVD burner on you older PC. Or use a USB flash drive-most of them are now 4 or 8GB.No free lunch, and no free laptop
