Indeed. But theree is a bit of difference in a paschal lamb and a flock of sheep who look like they've escaped from the Emmerdale or some other such farm based set/studio:p
Personally, I don't have a problem with the site avoiding religious symbolism altogether. IF you're going to use it, then get it right, but that's easier said than done - do we all agree about the appropriate Christian symbols for Easter? I doubt it. And when's the Orthodox Easter this year? And didn't the non-Orthodox Easter coincide with Pesach, so why Happy Easter and not Happy Passover too? There are times when whatever you do will be wrong ...I looked for the cross etc when I first saw Martin Had gone Eastery...only he hasn't really-he's just gone the consumerism side not the real meaning at allSignature removed for peace of mind0 -
Yes Sue I agree, Torbrex had it right - you can't please all of the people all of the time.
It's a difficult one - not everyone is religious and some people have their own beliefs and religion, and some don't believe at all......

In fairness, the Paschal lamb is a Christian symbol, which would link to our Jewish roots too, but I have to agree that the bunny isn't doing much for me either.
Wouldn't argue with you, but them lambs in the header is sheeps :rotfl::rotfl:
Here's a little lamb running away from a jar of mint sauce.

....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
At the risk of offending all Christians - Easter was originally a Pagan festival - celebrating the Goddess Eoster - the Easter 'bunny' is not the consumerism side - the rabbit has for a very long time been associated with Easter / Spring as a symbol of new life.
Also considering that Martin *shock horror* is Jewish I'm not surprised that there is not a Christian reference to Easter.
As mandi said this is not a religious site - I don't think Martin or the site admin were trying to offend anyone - rather they have chosen symbols which will not offend anyone.

I was keeping quiet about that in case anyone suggested that the site should be closed for Yom Kippur, come Autumn! Also considering that Martin *shock horror* is Jewish I'm not surprised that there is not a Christian reference to Easter.
(And I do hope that doesn't offend anyone.)
Maybe - given the offence caused to the Welsh by the lack of patriotic greetings to them in more than one year - it's time to ditch the silly pictures and go for a weekly calendar flagging the main days of interest. I realise that's a lot of work on one level, but presumably it could be pre-programmed.
And I'm not suggesting lots of saints days either, but the kind of thing you get in decent diaries and calendars, plus some bits from t'internet. For example, 19th September is International Talk Like a Pirate Day (I'd give a site but there are several, so google it, I am NOT making this up!); on a more serious level there is World Aids Day in December, International Women's Day in March and so on. The UK dates for Father's Day and Mothering Sunday could be useful too.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Thanks for the note guys. The designers on the site always err on the side of humour rather than anything else - though having those teeth in for days did hurt.
We do have a suggestions board for other days to do - talk like a pirate day could be one - check out another 'unusual' one coming in May...
Though i cant find the bloomin thread at the moment... anyone know?Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
