I tried chopping up leftover turkey when I got a food processor as a Christmas present. It was not successful. It didn't chop evenly so I ended up with a bit of a mess.
I wonder if you can still buy Spong mincers, my mum used to have one.
We are going to have cold lamb with chips tomorrow.
Just found one on Ebay £4.99 starting bid. I think I might buy it. They were really good and pretty indestructible I think.

We have quite a bit of cooked lamb left over too. Wondered if anyone had any other recipes to use it in? I cook shepherds pie quite a lot so would fancy trying something else.

    Thanks, Teapot

I've got lots of left-over lamb too, I bought a big leg because my DS was home for Easter but my DH went into hospital on Wednesday and is still there with no idea of when he may get better & come home. I was going to slice the lamb and freeze it in some gravy but I noticed on the packaging it said "do not reheat". It's just a normal leg of lamb from Asda, does anyone have any idea why not? DS is going back tomorrow so there'll only be me & DD and we'd never be able to eat it all cold.

anguk, I can't think why it says you can't reheat the lamb. If it was me, I'd risk it.

Could someone please share or post a link to the Delia Shepherds pie recipe? Thanks! I have loads of leftover lamb to use up and I just can't face a roast dinner again tomorrow!
Is this one ok? You could always leave the leeks out if you don't have any. HTH

I'm making Stovies with mine tonight ...

Chop up meat in bit sized cubes
slice up some potatoes and onions
    cover with gravy
bake in oven for about an hour (until potatoes are soft)...

Just incase anyone fancies a change from shep pie..

Since my S-i-L told me she never puts cold cooked lamb through a mincer, but chops by hand that is what I have done. You then achieve whatever consistency you prefer. As well as shepherds' pie, I make moussaka with left over roast lamb.

I've never heard of stovies being made like that! I learned to make them by sweating onions in oil, adding chopped tatties, bit of water and lots of butter. Leave over very low heat to part steam/boil. Add corned beef or sausages. Delicious but never come across them baked in the oven or with gravy

I think 'stovies' is a name that covers a multitude of sins! That's how I made ours tonight - and its all gone...maybe like 'Hotpot' or something when everyone has a different version? No doubt my version has been meddled with through the years - my father was a Scot & my mother was Belgian - so more than a bit Hotzepotten in there...
