Full and final settlement request

Well I sent back the same letter I had previously, with a slightly altered date (mainly to allow for posting) and received this reply today (I stated that the date I needed to hear by was 01/05).

'Further to your recent communication, I write to advise we were unable to contact you on the telephone number you provided us with therefore, please make immediate contact with our office to partial settle on this account.'

Is this a good thing? What do I do?

Hi,
I would be rather concerned about the wording 'partial' - it suggests that this would not be a full and final settlement and therefore they would continue to chase you for the rest. I would be tempted to write to them saying the offer from your friend has been withdrawn as Moorcroft failed to accept.

If you are going to be unemployed it might be worth keeping the money to make sure you can continue making payments.
