Assuming it did at least attempt to install
Use THIS to remove the old traces
Then use REVO to completely erradicate all traces of the latest java
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/revouninstaller.html
Run ccleaners main cleaner and registry cleaner
Then try again (If this fails im struggling)

Yes! Finally I have it solved! Thanks aliEnRIK, invaluable. Can't remember how I destroyed java in the first place, but it involved trying to install netbeans, the java SDK and eventually deleting the wrong folder while booting from linux.
