I don't understand why he doesn't do up stairs, we offer our customers the choice of 4, 6 or 8 weeks. We let them choose.
I would get some quotes from others, he is obviously an idiot to be honest. Your the customer you get the service you want, not what he says.
Try someone else and ask first if you can be put on an 8 week round.
£10 does sound fair to include upstairs and con, without seeing it.
Hope you get some success, it's not worth your health, if you fall and brake a hip for £10 every other month.0 -
Well it is a lot more complicated than it looks, and we thought maybe there was a domestic way of doing it, in our seventies and getting hard to clean the windows, by the way he charges £10 every four weeks, dormer bungalow with a conservatory, he does not do upstairs windows.
We could more afford it if it was every eight weeks, but that is not an option as we have asked.
Thank you all for your input. Always helps to ask the questions on here.
However hard we try, it is always streaky and worse than when we started and as we are by the sea it gets salty too!!
Cheers and thanks again, oap. Anyway, it works out at £9 per month so I don't think this is too bad.

The guys that use the pole fed systems use absolutely loads of water, the ones round here have huge tanks in the back of transit vans and fill them at least once a day.
One of them is on a meter and he uses about 200units every 6 months (he used about 60cubes before he was on the polefed system) , the others in town are not on meters , just pay normal rates which is unfair to others as its a business.
So everyone should be on a meter?
What about people with huge swimming pools or spas in their garden? It doesn't effect you at all.
We live in cornwall and pay 3 times the water rates the rest of you do, is that fair? No but we don't !!!!! about it because there's no point.0 -

If you have a swimming pool then yes you are compulsory metered, not sure about spas.
Why should someone running a business from home pay domestic rates and not pay what they should ?0 -
Thank you for your input, much appreciated, well he is the ONLY window cleaner round here, we had the folk round here years ago who sold their round to him, and he used to do cloth and bucket, then he bought this new gear, there is nobody else, rural area by the sea, plenty of houses though and bungalows, but so far cannot find another one.
So we pays our money and takes our choice, may ask him again for 8 weeks, but he was not interested last time, probably because there is no competition!!
Will have a go at newspaper and vinegar, but like someone said, have to be careful not to fall off the ladder, as our lounge window is reasonably high to reach as we are on a road which slopes.
Does the newsprint come off?
Cheers oap0 -
ps What sort of vinegar? Malt, White, and quite costly!! Cheers, oap0

Are you near cornwall I'll give you a quote:p
Try the yellow pages, window cleaners travel miles, sounds like he needs some competition.
If you have friends or neighbours that would be interested theres more chance they'll travel to you to make it worth their while and also you might get a free clean for getting them custom.0 -
OK good idea, not thought of that, we are in Anglesey, North Wales.
Will see what we can find, many thanks, oap :T0 -
ps yes my immediate neighbour is interested, but not every month!!0
