Busy hard drive

For some reason my hard drive will run constantly, for a duration of say 4 minutes, when I am surfing. As far as I am aware no scans are taking place. The activity very much slows down everything. I have turned off indexing as that seemed to be the first thing to do but it still does it from time to time. I am very security minded and I am satisfied that there are no " nasties " lurking.

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

Try popping up the task manager and sort processes by CPU usage when it happens (click on the headings to sort). Usually things that are hammering the hard drive also necessarily use a bit of CPU at the same time and will show up near the top of the list.

Move to Linux. All those Windoze problems go away.,... (but a few new ones crop up...)

3 major advantages to Linux, in my experience...
    a) It is free. Yes, free as in "Free Beer"
    b) It is found by users, big & small, to be more secure & less prone to attack by daft ***ers..
    c) In my humble experience most things run noticeably faster. e.g. This Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop: Dual boots Vista & Ubuntu. Boots Linux in probably 1/2 the time. Word Processing & surfing noticeably quicker...

    start here...

    http://www.ubuntu.com/

experiment, try it, if you ike it use it...

    - retire and wait for flames...

Cheers & best wishes to all, including those who don't agree with me!

PS & No more buying products to fix Mr Gates' minor defects....
