There seems to be more and more threads on this topic. Please do not open a student account at any bank just yet. Most banks offer incentives for opening an account for example, student rail card, etc,etc,. However, these incentives are on offer June(usually 2nd week) to October so opening a Student account now is quite frankly not a good idea as you will ineligible for the incentives. By all means research student accounts from last years offers but don't open a student account. You can open an account at the bank of your choice and then upgrade the account to a student one but it is more detrimental to open one if you are a "new" student to university education in the academic year 2009/2010.
Thought it might be useful to point this out cos it will save the questions later on in the year as to "I opened my student account in april/may and I haven't received my [insert student bank account incentive]. Why?"
