2 years with most companies but some companies will acccept it up to years.
It might be worth asking Tescos if they would allow you any no claims bonus0 -
i phoned around a few companies the beginning of last year, and all said 2 years, (i sold my car in jan last year and started car sharing with my dad to cut costs and wanted to see what the affect of my 5 years no claims would be if i were not to get a car again for a few years, ) just a hint to anyone like us, we ended up going with norwich union i think (dad as ph me as nd, but they were made aware that its a car sharing arrangement), they advised they would take note of my 5 yrs no claims(and asked me to send proof with dads) and that as they did a no claims for named drivers when the nd would take their own insurance with them, it wouldnt have an effect (ie 5 years before plus for instance if i am with them for 3 yrs as nd would still acrue no claims etc) the only catch will be that the first time i get insurance again for myself as ph, will have to go with Norwich union for the first full yearMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
