    Oystercatcher, how much was your first pay? Mine was £19 per week (before tax & Ins) when I worked in a shoe shop aged 16 in 1976. I only found the payslip after my mother died (she'd kept it in her files - probably thought it was the best I'd manage, lol!).
    I can't remember my husband's 1st pay - I should do because he spent most of it on my engagement ring - he still jokes that he's never had a single day's pay to himself, lol!
