can anyone point me in the direction, I have been on Good King Gok's website and established I have an apple shape, but most of the clothes I like he recommends dont come in my size 16-18. I like the thought of wearing top/dresses (which is what I am particularly after) that are in the style of Empire line, which is flattering for a big tum..
I have looked locally at our shops, but havent found anything I particularly like, all the usual chains and department stores

New Look normally does fashionable and inexpensive clothes in larger sizes. Evans in my opinion can be frumpy.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

I agree with you about Evans, cant bear the shop, I would like something fresh floral or nautical0 -
The problem at the moment is that a lot of the styles around are very unflattering for us apples! I keep seeing nice tops then notice they have an elasticated waist, or that elasticated hem at the bottom which makes us apples look even rounder.
After an unproductive clothes shopping day last week (New Look, Tesco, DP, Peacocks, Next and M&S) I finally had some joy in Asda of all places. Bought a couple of flowing style tops, very pretty/floral, skim the tum. They had straps instead of sleeves so found a nice longish thin cardigan to go with them that had quite a slimming effect. So that will do me till I have the energy to shop again.

I just went to Channel 4's website and searched for Gok, he does a comprehensive facility for all shapes and sizes, in the beginning it looks great, until you see something you want, its obviously an external link to the provider and although the design has been selected as suitable for your shape, it invariably doesnt take into account the shape/size that you are looking for. Of course, I am looking for the apple shape so I shouldnt really generalise, but this has been my experience only of my shape0 -

Babe...I hate to break this to you, but Empire-lined clothes are the best way to look pregnant. Please don't do this to yourself! my mum does it and is constant,y asked if she is pregnant. I also have the same genes for an apple shape (thanks mum) and despite not being over a size 10-12, it never fails to make me look sooo much bigger, rounder and about 6 months gone.
Try things that are fitted, tailored and not buttoned down the front (eg plain) or a large sized pattern can also work well (do not try ditzy prints). Also try colours that travel from one to another, with the paler colour at the shoulders, darket colour at the waist. And lastly, simple colours work well with patterend or loose fitting bottoms like linen trousers, boyfriend fitted jeans, bootcut type pants or similar.
Take time to try on clothes, and speak to style advisors or personal shoppers (who are quite often free if you are going to spend a certain amount in the store you are in) and get what suits you for your figure, many stores cater for all dress sizes, (in my experience, M&S, Debenhams bigger stores with all the brands, House of Fraiser stores with all the brands,) some don't cater for any but the straight-up-straight-down shape, (French Connection, Zara, Gap, Topshop) some only cater for smaller height/petite sizes (Miss Selfridge, Mango) and some only work for curvey but slim dress sizes (Kookai,) but save yourself alot of heart break (seriously, being told your pregnant even when you have said no I am not to people on the tube is the perfect way to spoil any good day!) don't do empire lines- even people without naturally pouty stomachs look pregnant in them!0 -

The smaller the print, the more it shows when the print expands or if on a on expanding fabric (eg cotton) it has this unfair ability to make things look bigger then they actually are, and also grabs attention to the widest point where the print is- so if you wear a ditzy print on a top, the eyes immdiatly are drawn to your top half, and then to your tummy. If you wear it on a skirt, eyes are drawn to your hips, -unless you have extremely big breasts- in which case your problem wouldn't be being apple shaped, it would be being big busted!
Prints that are big and bold are good- the bigger the better!:o0 -
no dont have big boobs, and am quite slim hipped, the only problem is the tummy overhang. Otherwise I would just be perfect... ;0)0
