So not old style, but I've taken to using the 'colour catcher' sheets in my wash now there's only two of us at home, as there's really not enough washing to justify completely separate white loads, whch is how I kept whites white before. I'm sad to report they work....Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

Now I'll disagree there. I know they're not exactly cheap but I think doing a mixed wash with a colour catcher is thrifty, and by implication OS. Much better than doing two half-load washes. And yes I've used them a couple of times now there's just two of us, and I was so pleased they work:j:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

I also found that whites were coming out grey i try not to put whites in after a dark wash as i think some ( especially Tesco) black clothes constantly shed dye and this was making the next wash grey. I also do the occasional hot wash to get stains out of tea towels.0

I use half a scoop of "Crystal White" powder (naff advert, good product) in all my white washes (including baby clothes - she never has a reaction). This keeps things white. To get them back to white, fill a bucket with 4 litres of quite hot water and a full scoop of "CW". Leave to soak for up to 12 hours and then wash. A few treatments like this should do the trick.
I always use seperate products for coloured and white - always Tesco's own, seems to work as well as branded products0
