    If youve done a complete reset then your in trouble

    But try RECUVA to find the missing jpg files etc
    (Do NOT install anything else as the more you install the more chance you have of overwriting the photos etc)

    i did a operating restore - i didnt realise it would delete my files

    My advice is use recuva to find the files

    Then burn them to disc (Or backup hardrive etc)

    Then install an anti virus ~
    Download AVIRA (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/

    And run a FULL scan with the av (Juse in case your still infected)

    When you started the factory restore, there should have been a warning that this would return your system to the condition in which it left the factory, and to back up any personal data etc.
    Folow RIK's advice and run RECUVA ASAP
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    This one is quite nasty to remove I tell you. It's a brand new version of an older virus and it is mighty good at avoiding detection.

    I got it yesterday and have run a bunch of scanners still don't think I'm rif of it. I got the same photobukket link and didn't think about it since I'd been chatting with the contact I got it from for 30 minutes when I got it. I called her afterwards and she got it from another contact at the end of our msn conversation.

    Anyway, I realized as soon as I clicked the link what had happened, so I started doing countermessures. I dual boot XP32/V64. So I booted up in XP32 changed the password and secret question and went back to V64 to start killing the spyware.

    1. Trend micro internet security 2009 pro - found nothing
    2. Spybot search and destroy - found nothing
    3. Bitdefender onlie scanner - found nothing
    4. KAspersky online scanner - found nothing
    5 Malwarebyte anti malware - found hijack entry in regestry
    6 MSN cleaner - found User~E1 entry

    Now I can not find anything anymore, but still think I got it coz today the print to document thingy popped up, and I did not start it.

    Here is my hijackthis log and it has lots of entries with unknown owner (file missing), thats scaring me. (BTW: as a new user on the forum I had to remove all links in the HJT log, as I was not allowed to post links as a new user.

    I think this log looks bad due to all those (file missing and unknown owner entries)

    HI, similar to a previous thread posted I stupidly opened a link from a friend which had something to do with 'photobukket' and put in my msn id and password. now my friends are gettin the same virus links from me. i have changed my password. is there anything i can do to stop it? i took the advice from an earlier post and ran a ful scan of malwarebytes' anti-malware which resulted in the following:

    i recently ran mbam and hjt on a clean vista ultimate 64 install and it came back with all them no file entries.

    i ran them straight after finishing the install. i personally think that mbam and the likes dont work that well with 64bit windows
