Laptop heating and fan noise

My laptop (Acer Aspire 5103WLMi) is around 2 years old and lately I notice a lot of fan noise. The laptop heats up very quickly and within minutes of laptop starting up I can feel quite hot air coming out from the vents. The laptop also seems slower that it has been, but it still working reasonably well.
Usually I'd replace the laptop once it is around 2 years old, but given the current economic climate I was hoping to get another year out of it before replacing it. So far the noise, heating and sluggishness has only been a bit of annoyance, but I suspect as time goes it could get much worse.
Doing a bit of googling it seems to me that one possible reason could be that the laptop needs cleaning which will improve its cooling. However I can't find any step by step guide for my model on how to go about it. I'm a complete novice when it comes to computer hardware with my very limited DIY skills I'd probably be able to take everything apart, but am not confident of putting it back together again.
Any suggestions on what could be wrong and how to go fix it?
I wouldn't mind spending some money and get a professional to do the job it that prolongs the life of the laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations in North West London? How much should I expect to pay for it?

Probably more to do with what you have running, cleaning is a matter of blowing any dust out of the vents.0

Ouch, £6.50 delivery. Cheaper getting it from maplin, even with their silly prices. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0
