I had insurance through lexham in my 1st year but on a 125cc bike. they do specialise in peds and up to 125cc bikes though, so maybe give them a go? i got my insurance free with yamaha and it was provided by them so guessing they are either a big/decent company (one or the other lol!!) never had too claim so can't comment there.

Back in in the days when I was young and had my first scooter - a red Honda Melody - insurance was cheaper when you kept the scoot 100cc or less.

Be careful as well - when you do eventually get insurance there can be restrictions like eg if the bike is supposed to be garaged and it isn't when it is stolen or whatever then it isn't covered. If I went to the local shop on my current 250cc bike and it was nicked from outside the shop - I wouldn't be able to claim because the shop is less than 2/3 of a mile from my house!

When I said this was unfair I was told to WALK to the shop. Yeah fair enough if that shop is the only place you are going. But if you call at it on the way home from somewhere else because you just remembered that you ran out of tea or whatever? Seems unfair but there you are.

Edited to add - my quote is decent but it is with Equity Red Star who also hapen to be the very first people I ever had bike insurance from in the early 80s.

At sixteen you can only rid a moped of 50cc or less. Devitts have a good reputation, as do Bennetts.
The cheap import mopeds on Ebay may be more to insure than european makes.

Try to avoid paying the insurance monthly, as the APR can be upto 50%.
