The letter they have sent I wont receive until the post states again on Tuesday, and out postman dosent normally come until midday! So if I hadnt of phoned up I wouldnt have known about the meeting until after it had taken place!
Oh no, that is absolutely unacceptable! If you'd failed to turn up, it would not have been your fault. You HAVE to be given reasonable notice. You haven't been. Posting a letter on a Thursday before a four day weekend and expecting you to be there on the first working day at 10 am - it just beggars belief! You could so easily have not turned up.

If it weren't for the fact that you want to know what this is about, I might have suggested that you hand deliver a letter saying that you were not given reasonable notice, and as you don't know what it is about you won't be there. However, I would prepare a blanket response to whatever they are going to say to you. Just printing off the ACAS disciplinary and grievance procedure should cover it ... Letting them know that you know you have the right to take out a grievance, or go for unfair dismissal if they ARE trying to get rid of you, may be enough to give them pause for thought ...

Thanks everyone. Ive tried to make the most of the bank holiday, but im starting to feel it now. At least it will all be over with tomorrow.

If the worst is going to happen tomorrow which it seems it will, I dont want to stay with the company because of the way they are treating me. I think the most important thing I want to go for is unfair dismissal which I would be able to explain to a new employer, rather then saying I was dismissed.

From what ive read up so far they have failed on the following points -

    - Havent given me reasonable time due to not receiving the letter
    - They have told me all the letter contains is the time and date of the meeting and no other details.

Can anyone advise me of what I need to ask for or shouldnt mention to make the case stronger if it comes to the employment tribunial stage? Do I need to ask about the appeal procedure or should they tell me? Ive read that if I ask for the reasons ive been dismissed they have to provide this within 14 days, so im presuming this is something I must ask for.

I know all this may sound strange, but im trying to make the best from what appears a bad situation. I want them to fail on as many points as possible to try and make the next step easier.

Thanks again everyone thats posted advice :o

You could say you're jolly pleased they've breached so much employment law as it will help you lots at the tribunal...
  • Just popped by to say that I hope it goes well for you, let us know what happens.

Thanks everyone. Ive just got back an im quite confused. Even when I got down there I had to sit and wait 20 minutes for them to see me. There were 4 people there. The MD, His wife, and two managers. It was about an incident that happened in early January this year. The only reason I didnt mention it in my earier post was because I was told the case was closed.

To cut the story short I received a call on a Sunday night saying my calls for the Monday had been cancelled and I needed to attend the office for a meeting as an allegation had been made.

I attended the office and was advised a client had some money go missing and whilst it was being investigated I wouldnt be able to work. I asked if I was going to be paid and was told I could still work in the office, just not in the community whilst it was being looked into.

The police took there time to come and speak with me, they was due to meet me on the Friday but never turned up. That evening the MD called and said he said as far as he was concerned I could go back to work normally that evening.
When the police did speak to me they said they had no information and as far as they are concerned the case is closed.

At the meeting today I was told that the client has provoded the MD with new information and as such I am suspended on full pay until it has been looked into. I have been asked to return my uniform and my ID pass. They couldnt tell me anything about the further information, and just asked again what actually happened that day.
He also said "At the next meeting you can bring a friend along with you. You could have done today but its a bit late now"

Im so confused. Surly if new infomation has come to light it should be the police investgating the matter and not the company. How come they have asked me to return all my uniform when last time they suspended me they allowed me to work in the office? I dont know whether the other staff members who were involved in the investigation orginally have been suspened either.

    Now im very stressed

I would give ACAS a call. You are suspended on full pay, aren't you? AFAIK you should be ...
