2 cars 1 policy?

Hi all
Is it possible (and if so who with!) to insure 2 vehicles on 1 motor policy?
Me and my husband both drive, he drives a works van, and i have a car which i drive to and from work each day. My husband is unable to drive his van for anything other than work due to insurance. He hasn't had his own car for 6 years now, therefore no NCB of his own. He is a co-driver on my policy.
We are looking to get a second car, but the insurance quotes for my husband are utterly ridiculous, due to the NCB, but he has no points, accidents or convictions and has held his license for 21 years.
Does anyone know of a company that will insure 2 cars on 1 policy?
Any help will be appreciated, we need to save money!

Admiral do a MultiCar policy - this wasn't very cheap for us although I have heard people say it saved them money.
Give Zurich a ring on 0870 902 12 72. They should (if you get someone who knows what they are doing) be able to offer your husband the equivalent discount of your NCB. The only condition to this is they must also give you a quote at the same time - but you are under no obligation to take it even if your husband goes ahead. (There is an option on their website to do this, but it usually just refuses to quote IME)
They definately offered this discount in July so I assume they still do it.0 -
I would recommend you speak to a local broker eg not a Swintons as they will have companies that can "Mirror" the no claims bonus you have on your own car onto the new car.
Alternatively ring around the direct companies and explain your circumstances at the start of the call to see if they "Mirror" no claims bonus on a second car. Although you may find it easier to let a broker do the leg work in this case
The 2 cars on 1 policy is not always the cheapest option despite what the adverts tell you.0 -
There must be a reason why his insurance is so frightening. Until December 2007 I had driven a company car for 22 years. My new job came with car allowance. 56 Focus Zetec , wife as well business and pleasure use = £290 with Bell Insurance. I dont think that is dear. What has he been quoted? What car? I know some companies do multi-car policies, but may not be necessary0

Is it possible you have been credited with NCB for your company car use?0 -
Scotsman4th thats probably whats happpened with them. Its fairly easy to get an Insurer to give you no claims bonus based on your company car driving, however most companies don't like doing it if it was a company van / commercial vehicle rather than a company car. In addition some don't like doing it if you still have use of the company vehicle.
The above is why I suggested the OP goes to a broker as they will know what companies will accept this, if they cannot get an Insurer to allow "Company Car" bonus they can probably get an Insurer to "Mirror" the no claims bonus they have on the wifes car0 -
Personally I would recommend steering clear of Admiral as we had a series of disasters with them which resulted in the bank getting involved!
MoreThan insure my fiance's two cars for the price of one, perhaps try them?0
