with your MF journey. As others have said make sure you have enough emergency savings before you op. You should also consider using your Cash ISA annual allowance before making any ops....
...whatever you do good luck:D0 -
:(I'm so annoyed...we have been really good for the last two weeks and had managed to save £251.10 (not including our monthly OP £100) through various bits and pieces. Then the electric window on the car went. This cost £400 to fix and the garage then told us that it's not completly fixed - there's something wrong with central electrics. Why when you try so hard, something ALWAYS comes up. After much discusion I think we may give up one car. DH is quite fit and enjoys cycling / running into work and doesn't mind the rain! We work shifts and don't live to far away from work - so it would save us money, and I could also get the bike out too!
I suppose the only postive note is before we sorted our money situation out - if one of the cars broke down it would have had to go on CC. I think now we have savings I'm tight!!!
So no OP this month , apart from our £100.
Hope everyone is well, as if we're heading into May! xMFW: July '08 - 190000June '09 - 181957.031000 in 100 days - 679.130 -
Hi LM. Its so annoying when something like that happens but at least you still mananged the £100 O/P. Hopefully next month you wont have any unplanned expenses. We propably wont be able to manage any O/P this month because of all the unexpected things that have came up.
Goodluck with everything.

That's what I like about MoneySaving! Once you start you can't stop. It's amazing the spending you can eliminate and not even notice it - until you see your savings increase. And I really enjoy having the cash to pay for purchases rather than having to take out credit agreements.
You're not tight, you're frugal:rotfl:!MFi3T2 #98 - Mortgage Free 15/12/20110 -

We have decided not to pay off loan. It's a yes yes to trading in both cars and using one! As we make that chioce it's been raining toady. If it really dosen't work out, we'll pick up a cheap run around.
Must start selling a few random bits on e bay - or take them to the charity shop. Want to get organised!
Hopefully we'll get the cars sorted and get back with the OP mission xMFW: July '08 - 190000June '09 - 181957.031000 in 100 days - 679.130 -

As you say, things do come and hit us, but, that's why we have our emergency reserves etc. However, none of us like to have to use them! I too have had a at least £1000 of unscheduled spend so far this year (car, replacement fridge...) so I know how you both feel.
However we learn lessons in everything and you've already posted the very positive aspect that you HAD the money available, so no need to pay interest on it. Try to see the positive progress you've both made
Best wishes for a smoother May.0
