Have I left it too late to take out travel insurance

I booked my family's summer holiday for July this year back in January. I am still to arrange travel insurance.
We have had some very bad news today. My mum looks like she may have breast cancer, she will not know for sure till next thursday when the test results from today come back. She is not part of my holiday.
If they operate in the timescale they say and the after treatment, she would be over the worst well before my holiday and I would feel happier I think to leave her for a week.
But if she is ill I will not go full stop. She may not have it at all.
If I arrange travel insurance now and she turns out to have breast cancer and she is unwell still in July would I be covered if the policy covered relatives unwell at home.
Many thanks

I think you might have because if you made a claim the medical paperwork would have to state the original consultation date and this would be before the date you bought the insurance.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
