For my sins i bought this Dabs Value mp3 player
http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=3MCB&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=mp3&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=50010
I am going to get rid of it because it is not compatible for Audible products.
However in the mean time some of my mp3 players dont play on it. I think it is because i have not used MPEG 1 LAYER 3 standard to compresss the files. Could s.o point me in the right direction to do this ? Im afarid i am pretty naieve in this area !
Cheers

    Hi
The mp3 player seems fine to me, how are you converting your cd's into mp3's are you using Media Player 10?
If you've downloaded the mp3's from legal sites, they might be copyright/protected.

    Hope this helps

The music that i am trying to listen to are basically those cds that were given away in the weekend papers. I dont download any mp3s from the inteenet illegaly.on my laptop i can play the files throgh the portable mp3 player. But on its own i can see them on the screen they wont play. I have used Nero 5 express and Media player 10 to copy them to may hard drive and of course they play perfectly. On the mp3 player screen, the ones that dont play are in Wma format- Hth Lj

    Hi
Put cd in drive, open with Media Player 10, Go to Rip, make sure in Tools, Options, Rip Music, Format make sure mp3 in showing, here you can also change the audio quality, press Apply then just rip your cd and it will encode it to mp3.
    Or you could use this
This program will encode cds/wma to mp3's, Audiograbber
