War pension review/medical

Hello,

I was wondering whether anyone can shed light to this, whether im just being a bit paranoid:

I was med discharged from the RN in 2005, and am now recieving my war pension.

I have now been told (2009) that i will have to have a medical to make sure im stil due it.

I think this may have been my honesty in filling out some forms recently to say i no longer have any treatment for my condition apart from painkillers(as i dont want any further operations).

So i have a full time job, does this go against me aswell, will i have to prove that i was damaged whilst serving and yes i am still in pain every few years? to get this part of the pension.

I just feel that i am being means tested, for something they allready know.

Has anyone else had this 2nd medical review, has anyone got anyone with the whole thing.

I was able to get a war pension after my time in the RN, after not being able to get fit enough quickly enough, following surgery to remove a disc, after a 'grid-sprint' accident.

This was in the mid 80's, and as far as I can remember, I had my first medical, and none since.

Whether this was because of the way I complained through my MP to get my pension, I don't know.

In their eyes, I'm 20% disabled, and like you, I am in full time work, and the only problems I have are pain related, or if my back muscles go into spasm, not that often of late, as I reach out and touch some wood !!

As it stands, I wouldn't be worried about it, especially if your condition, for what you receive your pension for, has remained the same since your last medical.

And it's not means tested in my view.
They have your original medical from when you first claimed, and that's their reference point, and yours, for the future.
As you know, you've to let them know if your condition changes, but i'd be surprised as to how often that happens when somebody improves.

I've had four reviews. I was put on some system that meant every 2 years I would be visited by a GP. All visits were lovely fortunately for me I was at my worst on most of them. If you check your old paperwork (I know they send you loads of stuff) it may say that you are due for a review... My last review was a little over two years ago and since nothing has changed since 1999 they decided that I would not need to have another one unless I contacted them to tell them that things had changed.

I never had to qualify how I was injured just discuss my symptoms and how they impacted on my life. Tell them everything even if you don't want to.

    Hope it goes well
