Bursary at college what is is included as income

My daughter has been accepted at a residential college in September for a two year course. She is sixteen and doing further education. The college itself does the bursaries in house. I have just got the forms and they want to know everything.

What I want to know is if tax credits are included as income as regards to the grants that are available. Seems a bit strange if they are as its not woth claiming tax credits if you are going to get penalised later for them.

Any help would very gratefully received.

Residential FE colleges like this are quite a specialised area so I'd enquire directly as most people won't have experience of the system.
