Problem: If I try to open a photo or download a photo - pc freezes and starts making a clicking noise.
The problem is also present when opening a photo in My Pictures - when not connected to internet.
my pc: (upgraded 2&half yrs ago)
Intel pentium 4, 3.06 ghz, 1.0gb ram, ms windows xp sp2,
Kaspersky internet security 2009
talktalk b/band, Internet Explorer 7
I scan and update regularly, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling microsoft office professional.
Have also tried installing and uninstalling Kodak software & Picassa - but made no difference
Pc is working fine (and has worked fine in the past) and there is enough memory, I think kaspersky might be blocking something.
Please suggest something a non-techie can do - thanks in anticipation,
chris

Can anyone help me fix this problem please? Thanks, chris0

if the hard drive is clicking, back up any data of value (pictures, emails, music etc) as a clicking noise coming from the hard drive usually means that the hard drive is about to fail and needs to be replaced0

How full is your hard disk please? No free lunch, and no free laptop

The C Drive = 132 GB free space, Total space = 149 GB
clicking sound only occurs when trying to view photos - even when internet is off
Thanks, chris0 -
I would do a data back up ASAP as a precaution. Plenty iof disk space anyway.
Something is not quite right in your Windows Updates, as you do not have SP3 installed, only SP2.No free lunch, and no free laptop
