Hi,
I am currently insured with eCar and my policy expires early May. eCar have already sent me my renewal price via email with reference no. to renew.
My question is, if i ignore this email and use Quidco to go through the motions of a new quote and start new policy, will i be eligible for the £60 cashback?

I did this with my motorbike with ebikeinsurance.
But, do log in to your current policy and select the option to let it lapse rather than do nothing/ignoring......0 -
Quidco says:Cashback for new customers only.
So it depends on whether they would count you as being "new".0 -
Thanks, i am learning there's pro's and cons to this
If it works i'll get my £60 cashback, though how reliable this is i don't know.
Also, i'll have to fork out the initial deposit again with eCar (i assume) and with childrens bday parties and car tax next month is already a tight one!

Get some quotes from the others paying cashback at Quidco - you may find they are competitive as well as no strings on you being eligible for the cashback.0

Yes, per Quentin and the others. I have done this before. Ensure you notify the current insurance that you do not want to renew and that the direct debit gets cancelled.
Go via Quidco (cancelled cookies as usual) and you will be a ew customer. But yes, recheck the comparison sites via Quidco (and cancel cookies, as always).

Thanks for the above posts I am currently looking at other quotes. I want to add OH to my policy as his car is now scrapped and his insurance expired.
I went direct to eCar's site and got a quote as a new customer (with OH as named) - £413.49
So this is where i'm confused...
In May 2008 my premium was around £600, i've been paying £59 p.c.m (over 9 months + deposit).
My renewal price (without OH) is £367.29.
I went onto my account and made changes to policy (added OH) and it says no cost adjustments. Does this mean it will remain at £600+ or at the renewal price which is not in effect?
I am gathering info from the comparison sites too but the above confused me...0 -
It means they aren't going to make any premium changes for the remainder of the current policy.
The renewal premium could be affected, so ask them to give you a renewal price to include the additional driver.0 -
Unfortunately you can only ring them on a £1 per hour line and they're not too useful via email...
Cheapest quote i've had is with Auto Direct @ £356.61 (£392 paying monthly). No cashback/incentives though
[edit] I've emailed eCar asking for a renewal based on OH's details, we shall see if they bother replying...0
