Making some extra cash on eBay stuff

Recently I have been on the lookout for local bargain items. This has expanded as some mates asked me to keep a lookout for somethings for them.

This got me thinking if I could buy some items on eBay and flog them at a carboot. I have a load of junk that I want to get rid of so it would be no big deal to take some extra things.

I know that you normally don't get that much at carboot so not expecting much, just a bit of extra cash. To keep it legit I think I need to declare within 3 months and complete SE1 but how can I prove the profit I have made? I am guessing that I will also need another eBay account as I will be buying for business purposes.

I have read some other posts in a similar vein which is where I have got the SE1 etc from. It didn't seem appriorate to tag onto one of these. I am not really sure the best way to go forward. I do not intend to set up a business so I think that it may not be worth the hassle. Just want to check that if anyone else had done anything similar.

Bear in mind, things generally sell for a lot less at a car boot than they do on ebay.

You are buying to resell, therefore you are a business - regardless of value or volume.

I probably did not make myself clear I know that anything that is sold for a profit in mind (purchased to sell rather than personal items) is a business.

At the moment I am thinking that the effort I will need to put in will outweight the amount of profit I could make, after all I am not going to find many items were there is a profit. That is of course irrelevant if I cannot proof how much I sold the items for.
