Lloyds Pre Approved Credit Card

in Credit cards
Hi,
I am hoping that some one can help me. I have a Lloyd's Platinum Current Account but I would really like a Lloyd's Credit Card. I already have a capital one Visa card which I pay in full everything month and I have had the limit increased a few times.
Now I am sure I heard that eventually Lloyd's will offer you a Credit Card when you log onto Internet banking in the 'offers section' (Which I do not have !). Is there any truth in this or will I just have to apply and risk being declined as I had 2 defaults from around 4 years ago when I hit problems.
They did upgrade me to the Platinum (With a £250 cheque card) from the classic so I am not sure if thats a good sign, or if you don't need to be credit scored for that, and due to an inheritance I maintain £7000 in the platinum and £100,000 in the e-savings.
Thanks.

I think that they give the Platinum to pretty much anyone that is daft enough to want to pay the £25 a month for it.
Why do you want a credit card anyway as you have such a high deposit balance ?
(Thanks for sharing that by the way, just what people want to read in the middle of a recession).0 -

Lloyds platinum account charge is £17.00 per month:rolleyes:
Op I would call phone banking and ask them what your chances are;)0 -
I'd suggest you pop into a branch - they can see immediately from their screen if u're eligible for any credit cards! They have a screen which shows how much credit limit you're eligible for, if you were to apply for a credit card (or overdraft or loan for that matter).0

Yea thats about right, no longer a prestigious account like the old days....ICan'tStandIt wrote: »Why do you want a credit card anyway as you have such a high deposit balance ?
?? What a silly question, loads of reasons such as online security, better than using a debit card, for holidays abroad - there could be 100's of positives other than just to borrow a few grand limit.ICan'tStandIt wrote: »(Thanks for sharing that by the way, just what people want to read in the middle of a recession).
It shouldn't bother anyone (it certainly doesn't bother me!) if the OP has 100 grand or 100 million, fair play thats what I say. Who cares, recession or not they are entitled to tell us what cash they have - same as those with debt share their info with us. Jealousy is a biatch!.....2010 - year of the troll

It's the Lloyds TSB Premier account that is £25 per month, but either way these accounts don't provide good value for money. And as for "qualifying" for the account, you just need a regular wage.
Fair enough, credit cards have their uses regardless of a person's bank balance, but I still think it is rather vulgar to be so specific about how much someone has. It's not a jealous reaction.0 -
You are only getting 2.5% on your esavings account, you could do better.Kavanne

Woah, 25 per month? I hate paying HSBC Plus 12.95 or whatever it is I pay them.... beggar paying double for a gold card and an extra 150 limit on my c/g - bear in mind no1 takes cheques now and even then, not to 250 quid LOL (not where I go anyway!)
I know what you mean - CC's are ok if used properly, with those savings i'd suspect that it isn't borrowing they are after but something else, maybe just the credit card as an 'just in case'.... 100 grand in the bank when the bank is shut is as good as having 100 million in there - you aint getting it and that's final (til it opens of course) LOL :eek:2010 - year of the troll

I was once in a similar position to the OP. Egg declined my application for a credit card: I then opened a savings account with them and put plenty of money into it. Then I telephoned and got to speak with one of their decision-makers (an underwriter I think) and told her how much I had on deposit with them. I got the card pretty quickly.0
