17" TFT Recommendations?

Hey everyone,

I've been looking for a while for 17" TFT monitors and I still haven't decided what to get.
I'll be playing games on it, and doing some graphics work on it now and again so contract ratio would be a consideration. I've looked on TomsHardware but can't find any decent reviews of 17" TFTs :(

Thanks,
Dan :D

My advice for anyone looking for a new monitor is to wait until Windows Vista is released at the end of this year. Unlike XP, Vista will have the ability to play high definition content such as blue ray dvds but only onto devices (monitors, projectors, etc.) which are HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection) compliant.

Most monitors produced now are not HDCP compliant or the ones that are have not been tested with Vista because the final version isn't out.

If you buy a new monitor now you will not be future-proofing yourself incase you ever want to buy Vista and watch HD content, or want to sell the monitor on to someone who does.

Windows Vista won't be out until the end of the year (and I wouldn't upgrade until SP1 is out for it, maybe 4-6 months), and as much as I've read HDCP protection hasn't been truly defined. It's just the industry's way of imposing more copy protection.

And anyway, even if you do have a monitor capable of it (which are currently very rare), your graphics card most likely won't support it. It's not something I'd worry to much about just yet, especially as HD will be at a premium once released.

    Hi
How about this one, looks pretty good, and an excellent website, bought lots of stuff off these, usually delivered within 24 hours.
