Im off to Dorset tomorrow - Lyme Regis and am taking my netbook but according to Vodaphone website there is no 3g signal anywhere round there.
Ive got a PAYG dongle also got a 3 one I won but not used.
Anyone know if these coverage maps are spot on or if there is a chance of a signal?
Id like to be able to check my forums/messages/facebook etc and cant think there is a net cafe there, and the library will be shut for Easter.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Can't be sure, Lyme Regis is very steep and hilly, however if you can go 20 mins down the coast to Sidmouth you can get a 3G signal there. Might be a few wi-fi hotspots you can locate. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You can check whoever owns the mobile masts on here http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/
Just zoom in on the area your interested in on the blue triangles then click on them for more info.0 -
Try 3's network coverage checker - they provide the 3G network.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Sorry, basmic, 3 only provide 3g but so do all the other networks. The other 4 networks provide both 2 and 3g (generation). Also, the coverage checkers that the networks have on their websites are a predicted result, not definite.
Have a look here, alisont http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/...no_signal.html0 -
My bad, but they do share each other's masts: http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/0,1000000085,39327038,00.htm http://news.zdnet.co.uk/communications/0,1000000085,39359180,00.htmEverybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Just be careful if you're out near the cliff edges - coz my mobile re-located me to France!
Had to come about 300yds inland (& downhill a bit!) to get my UK signal! :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0 -
Thanks everyone for replies, dont think signal will be good there but will take the netbook out if we go up the coast.
I really should be able to live without the internet for 1 week but I know i shall get withdrawal symptoms:rolleyes:
Be great if i find a signal in Lyme if not Il have to see if any local libraries are open next week or if any hotels have wifi.Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
