printer problem

have been trying for a few days now trying to print pictures from my laptop to my desktop printer. nothing happens
anyone know know of a foolproof method ie not complicated to do this?

You will need to share the printer on the desktop and then install the shared printer on your laptop:-

Run the networking wizard (in control panel) on the desktop computer.
Once done, go to Start\Printers & Faxes
Right click on the printer you want to share and click Sharing...
Follow the instructions.

Once done, go to the laptop and click Start\Printers & Faxes
Click to add new printer
Select "A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer".

Follow the steps to install it.

You will need the desktop switched on to print from the laptop though.

The alternative method would be to install a print server on your network. That way you plug the printer into the print server then install the printer on each computer as a network printer. You don't need to have the desktop computer on to print from the laptop then.

hopefully the action of print sharing setup will give you the option of allowing the laptop to automatically download drivers that will work. but with my printer it wouldnt have it - so I installed the correct drivers onto the laptop from the printers manufacturer website.

Although when I finally set it all up it didnt seem to want to work, so I shut everything down and went to bed.. when I got up the next morning the pages had printed . and everything seems to be OK now.. wierd,

unless the blue fairy visited my network during the night, . . .
