Argos - not covered by 30 day guarantee

Hi all,

What does it mean exactly when they say an item is not covered by their 30 day guarantee? If it doesn't work, will I get a replacement? I'm thinking of buying a digital camera, and the one I want is not covered by their 30 day guarantee.

I don't want to be stuck with a lemon.

Please advise if you know.

Thanks

The 30 day guarantee is for returning something you don't work or don't like.

It doesn't affect your statutory rights, which means if your camera doesn't work then they have to sort it out (within certain periods of time etc.)

I believe Argos also advertise a 1 year guarantee on all products anyway.

No (imagining young aged pensioner being annoyed by someone asking the same question....:rotfl:)

I've never heard of / been to howgate I'm afraid :p

Thanks - I'm assuming that you mean you don't find easy to work? Not that it doesn't work?

Does it also mean that if the camera doesn't work they won't replace it, they'll send it to the manufacturer to repair?

I bought a Russell Hobbs toaster from Argos in September for my daughter and last week it broke, I took it back with the receipt. They did not even look at it just asked me if I wanted my money back or replacement. As the toaster was from a set which included a kettle, they could not refund, but took another toaster out of another set which was fine. They did say if I brought the kettle back as well I could have full refund

Sorry, I was thinking of the wrong thing. Read work as want, so the first sentence says "The 30 day guarantee is for returning something you don't want or don't like."

Argos are very very good with returns, especially if you go in on a Saturday/Sunday and are served by one of the really young staff. They'll normally just give you a replacement or a refund immediately - they never usually check for faults, just take your word.

I'll give everyone some clarification :rotfl:

If the item is exempt from the 30 day moneyback guarantee (and is clearly stated in the catalogue/website/by the cashier) it is NOT returnable unless there is a fault with the item.
There may be some leniency for sealed games (e.g. Nintendo DS games) but most certainly digital cameras, memory cards and digital photo frames aren't returnable.

This doesn't affect your statutory rights :T
