Not Money saving as it is to do with flowers, so I apologise for that!
But if you garden I just want to let you know that this pest is now about as I just found 2 in my garden so if you have lillies keep an eye out for the beetles and kill before they can lay eggs!

Too early for them to be on lillies I think but they like Fritallia as well!
If it helps one person avoid the nightmare of having to remove horrible slime (actually the lavae's facaes) covered wrigglies from their lily plants like I had to one year it was worth posting!:D

Hi there I had problems with this beetle on my Lillies not last year but year before. Did not know what it was then.
Last year I sprayed it with an organic spray and it did seem to do the trick but they may just have been luck. Went on to have fab lillies.:mad:0 -
I too had problems with these blighters the yar bfore last, they distroyd all my lillies and I have hundreds! I'm pleased to say though that last yar all my lillis were back with a vengence:j
Quenriderbrekke I disagree, it IS money saving because once these things set in you are left with nothing if you dot act quickly. I hope your really useful post helps someone as I was devastated when I had them.0 -
My Mum goes out in the early evening and squishes them between her thumb and forefinger. You have to be quick, if you shake the plant they have a reflex that allows them to drop straight to the ground.

I'd never heard of them til my hubby's lilies got attacked 2 years ago, he loves his lilies and we didn't know they were vunerable and as the lillies are at the back of our garden we didn't notice til the voracious little larvae were eating the plants and I picked the horrible things off by hand as we never seem to have any luck killing critters with sprays:D
They are disgusting little things, but I must admit the beetle stage is quite pretty, still prefer the lilies though!"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

We have had them for weeks now, we keep squashing them. There is a bug spray called provado which which claims to get rid of them.0

I had some beautiful Lillies too, and as they smelt gorgeous brought them indoors ....yip...went on holiday and when we got back, the beatles were all over my living room. I would love to grow them again, but I'm having a break for a year or two.0
